Power Yoga Mornings with Brooke Gershenbaum
Monday mornings 9:15am at the studio. 128 S.Court Street, Fayetteville.
Brooke is ready to guide you into your POWER!!! Power yoga is a general term used to describe a vigorous, fitness-based approach to vinyasa-style yoga. Though many consider power yoga to be superficial "gym yoga," this style of yoga practice was originally closely modeled on the Ashtanga method.
Power yoga incorporates the athleticism of Ashtanga, including lots of vinyasas (series of poses done in sequence) but gives each teacher the flexibility to teach any poses in any order, making every class different. With its emphasis on strength and flexibility, power yoga brought yoga into the gyms of America as people began to see yoga as a way to work out.

In this class we will work toward improving flexibility and strength in a mindful way. Some yoga knowledge would be helpful, but is by no means necessary. This class may involve some chanting, and sequences can range from challenging poses such as inversions to melting into yin style postures. “It is always a toss up!”
One thing is for sure is we will always keep it fun and light. Simply know that you can do this class! Challenging but worth it.

Let Brooke take you on a journey of the self, through the self. Anyone can do this class.
What Is Vinyasa?Vinyasa stands in opposition to hatha. Hatha classes tend to focus on one pose at a time with rest in between. In contrast, flow classes string poses together to make a sequence. The sequence may be fixed, as in Ashtanga in which the poses are always done in the same order, but most of the time vinyasa teachers have the discretion to arrange the progression of poses in their own ways.
